The Other Guys

February 13, 2011

To start off this review, I want to point out that The Other Guys is one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen. Right next to that is Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, which is one of my favorites. This is the story of two mismatched New York City detectives who seize an opportunity to step up like the city’s top cops whom they idolize, except things don’t quite go as planned. First off, when you watch this movie, don’t take it seriously. Actually, if you are watching ANY Will Ferrell movie, don’t take it seriously. If you do, you will end up hating it. Not only was this movie hilarious, but it had pretty impressive action sequences. The two stars (Ferrell, Wahlberg) are perfect for each other. Ferrell is a nerd while Wahlberg is “that guy who shot Derek Jeter.” I didn’t give this film five stars because after a little while, the jokes seem to drag on and become endless, but that didn’t affect me much. This is one of Adam McKay’s best films.
