“Paul Conroy is not ready to die.”

Buried is the story of Paul Conroy, a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.

For the first two minutes of the movie, all you hear is [the talented] Ryan Reynolds breathing. Soon, he wakes up, and the movie begins. First of all, this movie is not for the light-hearted, it has very disturbing scenes and is obviously not for the claustrophobic. The whole movie is guaranteed to have you at the edge of your seats.

Buried works not because Ryan Reynolds is good (he is) but because director Rodrigo Cortes is even better. Cortes make the right shots, the right dialogue, and gives a perfect amount of suspense to leave you satisfied at the end.

Dan Brenner: Your ransom video already has 47,000 hits on YouTube!

Whatever the reasons that draw us to the movies, spending 90 minutes trapped in a box with Ryan Reynolds is one of them.
